Growth and Ecosystem (2012–2017)

Go · History & Evolution · Run with go run

Explanation

Between Go 1.0 and Go 1.9, the language itself changed little (by design) but the ecosystem exploded. Docker (written entirely in Go) shipped in 2013 and proved Go's fitness for systems software. Kubernetes followed in 2014. The Go community built `dep`, `glide`, and other vendoring tools to manage dependencies before official module support.

Real-World Scenario

By 2016, Go was the language of cloud-native infrastructure. The CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) hosted projects like Kubernetes, Prometheus, etcd, and Istio — all written in Go. The language's fast startup time (no JVM warm-up) made it ideal for containerized microservices.
